Centres and humanitarian associations in Mongolia
The following are some of the centres that we intend to visit and which have already shown an interest in being part of this project:
* Alpha Communities, Ulaanbaatar and Arkhangay province (http://www.alphacommunities.org). This association provides care for street children and poor families. They have a shelter and a kindergarten where they host approximately 130 children.
* Mercy Corps Mongolia (http://www.mercycorps.org). A programme focused on developing local initiatives, with projects based in the Gobi provinces and other rural provinces.
* The Verbist Care Centre, Bayangol district, Ulaanbaatar. (www.geocities.com/yamataro670/verbistcarecenter.htm). A child centre for street kids who lived in the sewer system, founded by Father Gilbert Sales, catholic missionary, which hosts approximately 120 children.
* The Lotus Children Centre, Yarmag district, Ulaanbaatar (http://www.lotuschild.org). A child centre founded by the association AMURTEL, which works equally with families and develops projects focused on the future of sheltered children.
* Mongolian-Russian school no. 3 in Ulaanbaatar.
* Flagstaff International Relief Effort (F.I.R.E.) (http://www.fireprojects.org). An association focused on delivering winter clothing, supplying school and medical material as well as training doctors in Mongolia.
Underlying this initiative is a sincere belief that the various centres and communities visited in Mongolia will be able to benefit from direct publicity, which would entail logistic and financial aid from associations and individuals in Western society.
